"Recently there came a hole in the gearbox on my 454 crusader. The oil was dripping out.
Yesterday, the other gearbox developed a hole in the same place and all the oil ran out. Of course, I couldn't get the engine in gear and had to return to port.
Why did these holes appear in the gearboxes?

I need an explanation. I have never heard of a transmission just getting a hole in it.
