Bolt Size Question

"I lost the bolt that goes into the cone which goes after the prop. The Volvo part number is 850889. Does anyone know the size of the bolt? It appears to be about 7 mm and about 60 mm long.

"If you use an impact wrench and the bolt is seized, chances are you will shear it as it is made of stainless steel. Then you will have to drill and re-thread the propeller shaft.

I would try with a 1/4 socket allen and a ratchet and see if it comes out without applying excessive torque. Stainless does not normally seize to stainless, unless they are made of different grades. If the screw does not come out, then you can try to carefully drill the allen head so that you can remove the cone and the prop. Afterwards, you could apply a bit of heat af the end of the propeller shaft (if necessary) and remove the screw with a pair of vise-grip pliers.

What the 290 drive carries behind the prop is the steering fin, and that's not an anode. Is that the part you were talking about?

"thank you. I think you a right about shearing the bolt. I had planned to cut the cone off if necessary as it is cracked and I have a new one.
I expressed myself incorrectly on the anode, I mean the one between the prop and the outdrive body which is technically in front of the prop.
