Bobine becomes red hot

bob boot

New member
Bobine becomes red hot when I'm about 15 minutes sailing, I can not
touch the bobine and the engine turns off, and when he has cooled off the engine started again and after 10 minutes turn its off again, etc. Everything is updated (oil-cooled bobine , points, condenser and rotor, wires) Does anyone know what this could be?

First what's a bobine??? I'm thinking coil?? If it's getting that hot then it's probably bad. What's the voltage in?
If it's a new coil.Is it a coil with internal resistor?
Profile?

You're right it is a coil and the input voltage is equal to the voltage generator, we have already tried to use a lower voltage to work but then the engine is not running

Get a coil with an internal resister.
Voltage should be about 9v.to the coil.
Now what we working on??Lots of Volvos have an inline resister.J

Jerry, I too had look that up.

Yes.... more info is needed.... year, engine model, etc.

In a conventional type ignition system (whether electronic or mechanical triggering), the coil itself will determine if the input voltage must be resisted or not.
See your OEM service manual for the recommended ignition coil.
