Blowing Fuel Pump Gasket

I have a 1997 Mercury 225 - (3.OL Carb) that can not get enough fuel and continues to blow out the gasket in the fuel pump. I have installed a new bulb and new fuel pump kit and it blew within 3 minutes and could not get over 3,000 RPM's (usually top out at 5,200 RPM). I checked the fuel tank vent and the intake was clogged with a wasps nest. I replaced it and it blew again. I have now put in a new in-line fuel filter and have ordered another rebuild kit. I am hoping this will do the trick but if not, now that I have replaced the fuel pump kit, inline filter and fuel tank vent, if this doesn't do it, what else should I be looking for? Also, the first time I opened up the fuel pump, the gasket was blown going toward the carbs. The 2nd time, it was blown outward toward the fuel supply
