Howdy folks!

I've just joined the boating world and I'm full of so many questions about my little '88 Ranger I've inherited and I want to maintain it and repair it without breaking the bank.

Took it out last Sunday and the motor starts up just fine.. took a little bit but it smoked and cranked right up. It was fine for the first 20 minutes running it. Got up to 35-40 mph with no issues. Cut the motor off, started fishing and having a good time. Cranked it back up and wanted to go a little further out. We hit some rough water on the lake and got a high temp warning. Immediate cut it off and trolled as much as we could back to the ramp before getting pulled out by a baby four-stroke.. (haha)

I'm not certain the year of this motor. I'm trying to figure out a way to post the pictures of the motor, cowl on and off. I want to say its an '88 but im not sure.

main reason why I'm writing this post is because I want to remove the propeller, remove the bottom assembly and try to check the water impeller/pump.
any help would be awesome!

The serial # will tell you the year just need to look it up. Propeller does not need to come off to service the waterpump. Does your boat have a Jackplate on it? Take the serial # and get the service manual for your motor.
