"Greetings, Happened to stumbl

"Greetings, Happened to stumble on to this forum and glad I did! Most Crusader info I've seen anywhere.
My old 1985 Crusader rh 270 has 4500 hours on her, lots of it being trolling time. She starts fine and still runs like watch.Manifolds and risers I believe are all original,no salt.I'm thinking seriously about doing a repower with a Crusader Classic 315hp engine and tranny package.I feel my old motor is underpowered when fully loaded and with that many hours it makes sense to replace everything. My question is would the 45+ hp gain be enough to make a significant difference? Are the new motors much more fuel efficient than the old ones? Any dealer recomendations? It's tough to spend the money on replacing a good ole motor,but...
Thanks in advance,

"I run a 83 26' penn yan w

"I run a 83 26' penn yan with the 270. This was my father-in-laws, and his buddy got the bigger engine. Very little difference in top end speed or pickup. Might be because penn yans are as ergonomic as a brick, but if engine still runs fine, why bother. You can also troll at a higher rpm if you use drag bags."

"As Emac said it is not worth

"As Emac said it is not worth the expense if your engines are running good. If you want economy re-power with diesels. They are much more safe, reliable and economical."

"Why not replace with a Crusad

"Why not replace with a Crusader Power Pack (see crusaderengines.com) and bolt on your marine accessories. The new Vortec engines really do have more torque. Your old CH270 really didn't have 270 HP, it's just a model number with misleading info. The old 350's with Rochester carb really put out 240 to 250 HP. The only thing I would do with a new power pack is put a marine Edelbrock carb instead of the Holley it comes with."
