Bf8ah tiller handle/starting question

Hi folks, i broke the tiller handle on my bf8ah motor the other day & am wondering if it will start up if i take it off & disconnect the cables for the throttle & the stop switch. the reason i am asking this is will it start because i won't be able to twist it to the start position. does that position have anything to do with not getting spark ? can anyone tell me how that works.? any info would be greatly appreciated because i know very little about how these motors operate.thank you !

You have to advance the throttle some to get extra air into the intake at start. If you are just trying to start it, you can have someone manually move the lever on top of the carburetor a little to simulate opening the throttle.

You will also have to have your safety landyard/button connected and landyard installed. No to start it, but to stop it. It will have spark if the stop switch wires are disconnected.

mike, thank you for the info ! i'll give it a try tomorrow.got my fingers crossed. i thought that maybe i disturbed something electrical in the throttle handle when i removed it after i accidently broke it while hoisting the motor up in the tilted position.
