BF75A - start switch doesn't work

Boat working fine a month ago. Haven't had it out.

Started to take it out yesterday, and start switch doesn't work. Lights, radio, and all other buttons work, but tilt/trim and gauges
do not come on when turned to the on position.

I've checked battery. It is good. Replaced fuse.

Any help is appreciated.

PS - posting for my husband. He is down working on it, so I may not have all the information on what he is done. I'll apologize in advance for
this :):)

Thank you

There are two fuses...a 30amp and a 15amp. Check them both.

Does the trim work from the trim switch on the engine? If not, you have a dirty, loose or bad connection on the battery cables from the battery to the engine. The trim and tilt switch on the engine does not go through any fuses.

If the on engine trim switch works, double check the 15 amp fuse. It feeds power to the helm (including key switch, gauges and trim switch on control handle.

If all fuses are ok and trim switch on motor works, then check the cable connections on the front of the engine. There is a 14pin round connector (about 11/2 " in diameter)...disconnect it and reseat it. While disconnected, make sure that all the pins are straight and none are pushed in.

If you have a test light...and know how to use it.... checking would be much faster.

There is a wiring diagram in the back of your owner's manual. If you do not have one, download one from Honda for free. http://marine.honda.com/Owners/Manuals/models/BF75EFI Choose based on your serial number.

Thanks Mike - he got it working. He just "redid" everything he had done.....cleaning wires, grounds, etc.

This is a great site! I'm hoping we don't have to come back th ough.
