BF50A prop.

Hi all.
I have a BF50A pushing a 550kg (circa) fiberglass boat.
I live in Denmark and am planning a fishing trip to Norway with some of the lads in a month or so to try our hand at some monster sized cod & coalfish.
Right now I am fitting out the boat with everything you could believe to make our adventure fun, safe & productive. I have come so far that her bum is repainted, new CHIRP fishfinder mounted, all lighting changed out to LED's and loads of other fun toys that I don't need but must have.
When it comes to my motor I have not done so much since preserving her last autumn. oil & filter change, draining/ fogging & so on.
My question is more or less that I would like a reserve prop as a back up. SS would be nice. I would like a good 'hole shot' + good top end speed. boats.net have so many options in pitch that I have no idea what to buy(doe's not have to be a Honda prop). Are there any prop pro's out there that could point out what I need?
Besides the prop I will take a reserve impeller, extra oil, flushing gear & a few tools with me. Is there anything else I should bring for a trip away from home for either the motor or the boat?

Hanging out for boating season to start.

Cheers
Dean.

Hi Dean.

If I woold be you ,I would take with me spare spark plugs (or steel brush in case you need to clean them) and ofcource spark plug spanner to take them out. (on my BF50 spark plug spanner number 18 EU dimensions) Also can have with you original or simple peace of roap.. in case if startor motor is out of order. If I'm not mistaking there is an a emergency way to start it with a rope. It will not take lot's of extra space in your boat. ;)
What about propeller. If you are not planing to go on shalow water, you can use SOLAS propelers. They are cheaper and not bad quality. But at shalow water better originals, they have special pin or something that in case of smashing stones for example it wil brake without damaging gears! About the speed, depends on rpms of engine. BF50's at max output should be in range 5500-6000 rpm. One pich bigger will give you 200-300 rpm less, and in opposite one pich smoler propeller will give you 200-300 rpm more on your engine. This is aprox ofcource.

I'm not a profecional, but hope you will find something useful from my advices.
By the way good luck in Norway ! ;) I believe you will have a nice journey

Thanks. After writing I found a new but 2nd hand solas 11 1/8 14 stainless prop for next to nothing. I'm looking forward to trying it out. I more or less have everything you named rope plugs etc. Also have a handheld Motorola VHF with extra battery if the **** really hits the fan. Does anyone know the size of the split pins holding the prop nut. I have stainless at work & the boss said I may take a handful home but stuck out at sea I can't check. Anyone? In mm if possible.
