I have a set of '97 BF50's (not counter rotating). I've had them in the gulf 4 times so far for about 8 hrs each time. When I trailer and flush the next day the impeller goes out on the same one. The blade edges look good; they crack where the fins meet the center. Any ideas? Thanks Steve

Sounds like the problem lies in the waterpump cover - might be a touch too small (mfg defect) and it's impeding the impeller too much.

I would get a new cover...

"In my experience, ive found after market w/pump kits simply dont cut it like the genuine part does.
if your doubt, buy a complete w/pump service kit and replace all the components, but above all, when you install the pump housing, coat the impeller cup with a light smear of grease and ( here is THE most important part ) , be sure to rotate the pump drive shaft in a CLOCKWISE direction, as you lower the housing down over the impeller. Failing to do this will cause the impeller blades to face in the wrong direction of rotation and destroy the blades very quickly. try this and let me know how you go."

"You have twins and the setup may not be correct.
If they are on a mono hull the the legs should have some toe in as the water leaving the rear of the hull is not coming straight out it is on an angle and if the motors are towing out it causes an air pocket to form on the outer water intake screen, check it with a tape."
