Bf30a just goes click when I turn the key

Hi
My bf30 just clicks when I turn the key
It also has a red light on the lower console light whe
The key is turn to 'ON' position
I have 12.5 volts on the battery
I have less than a .5 voltage drop on both sides of the solenoid
I have cleaned the starter insides and scraped the brushes
The engine & battery were briefly under fresh water and ran right after that
But after sitting for 6 weeks I now have this problem
Just a red light and a click
Any help is very much appreciated

See if you are getting 12v measured between the starter side of the solinoid and the engine ground at the starter.

If you are getting between 11 and 12v there, then the starter is bad. If you are not, you have a bad ground between the battery and the engine.

Goode morgen-------------------Try going directly to the starter motor with a sat of booster cables.--------------I suspect the solenoid is bad.

Good effort on the Goede Morgen -

do I just hook up the pos side of the battery to the post on the bottom of the starter and ground the neg on the engine with a pair of standard jumper cables bypassing the console and solenoid?
