Good evening gentlemen. This week I took the gear case off and brought to Honda shop to replace bent prop shaft. Assembled the gear case today, but having a little trouble lining up the shift shaft spline. Got it assembled, or so I thought today. Once I had it in place, I tested the shifting on the helm. Went forward and reverse with no issues, shifted smooth.
Dropped the boat in the water and started it up, engine started in reverse while helm was in neutral. Prior to leaving the house I checked the shift shaft on the gear case and I believe it was in the middle. There are only 3 positions. Frustrated...
I am assuming the gear case shift shaft spline needs to be in the center position while the helm in neutral. Am I missing anything?
I'll drop it again tomorrow morning and take a look. Thanks for any suggestions.
