BF20D still struggles to start.

Hi Guys
My 20 has a 2nd brand new carb on it but I'm having initial start issues with it. The previous carb (that gummed up while I has in hospital) worked very well
and started on the first key turn. With the new carb it will not start on the first key turn and I have to wait around 15 seconds before trying again and then it eventually starts and splutters and stalls and eventually after letting it rest for a sort while it will keep running but it sounds like the auto choke isnt doing
it's job right ..when it eventually warms up it's all OK so I'm suspecting something on the auto choke. It is getting the required 12v but doesn't respond well
at all. I still have my previous carb so would it be worthwhile to swap the autochoke units over even though it's a year older??
Thanks for any advice

Chris

Hi Guys
Didn't get any response from the above so I went ahead and swapped the brand new autochoke that came with the new carb with the older one
that I kept on my previous carb. The o ring was missing so I just used the new carb's o-ring plugged it in tightened the screw and lo and behold it started first touch and adjusted the mixture until the motor had warmed up ... it starts with just a flick of the key so I can only surmise that the
autochoke that came on the new carb was faulty. If you have to replace the carb, keep the old one as the bits and pieces from it might save you bacon

Good advice to keep the old one and all the parts and good job figuring it out and posting the solution here.

I worked on a friends 9.9 Yamaha 2 stroke, needed some small carb parts, found a carb on Amazon for $17. I didn’t bother using the new Chinese carb, just used the parts off it that I needed and saved the rest of it for possible future use.
