BF15 vertical shaft length needed

Does anyone have the length spec for a short BF15 vertical shaft??? we are wanting to shorten a long shaft ,we're out in the jungle with a good machine shop but no easy parts access....My guesstimation is around 605mm

Not sure what Racerone said, but the length will vary depending on the vintage of the 15 HP.

The parts breakdown, indicates that a BF15A(older vintage) is 59.44 cm and the BF15D (current vintage) is 61.34 cm.

I do not have one apart to actually measure to double check.
