I am stuck on my lower unit dissasembly. There is a very large external thread nut holding the upper bearing race of the drive shaft in place. The manual calls for a special tool 64mm lock nut wrench to take it out Part # 07916-MB00002 . I've done some looking and can't find an online source for the wrench. I may be able to get the nut out without tool but torquing to 90 ft lbs will be dificult.

You will save yourself a lot of money and headache, just order the wrench or have a machine shop cut you one. Thanks Martin

Thanks for the response. I've come to same decision. I'm not finding the tool available online. Everything closed till tuesday. I'm also thinking maybe just bring it by the honda shop for nut removal, hopefully they won't charge an hour labor. I've had good luck trying that with motorcycles in the past. Looks like the job is turning into complete bearing replacement, fwd gear, pinion, and prop shaft replacement. Just in case anyone else out there accidentaly puts a couter rotating prop on a standard lower and decides it's not going to ruin a perfectly good day for boating, and your just going to drive around in reverse (fwd) all day. Don't, I tried it so you don't have to, it works but bad things will happen.
