"I just serviced my BF100 and I am replacing the timing belt. While I was doing this the gear got out of position. Does anyone know how to properly set the timing belt. I can see a timing mark on the camshaft pully, but nothing else. This is a small 9.9 HP Honda Fourstroke. My manual doesn't tell how to replace the timing belt."

"Make sure that the pistons are down as you rotate the cam to align the punch mark with the punch mark on top of head, (forward, just to starboard of center).

You must remove the recoil starter to see the mark (line on aft mounting post) that you turn the flywheel to align the "T" Mark (line) with."

I am able to locate the T mark

I am able to locate the T mark on the flywheel and the dot on the camshaft. I am unable to locate any marks on the engine to line these up with. Do they actually align with each other? The engine is very clean so I don't believe the marks are buried. Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks for the great picture. I will look at mine again when I get home. Now the only one in question will be where to line up the flywheel T mark. Thanks for your help!

You must remove the recoil starter to see the mark (line on aft mounting post).

There are three bolts to remove the recoil starter and then you can see the line mark to align the 'T' line mark with.

"Okay, thanks to the great picture I found the timing mark to align the cam with. It was very hard to see. I also found the mark on top of the post under the recoil starter to align the flywheel t mark with. Thank you everyone for your help, I couldn't have done it without you."
