BF100 missing 15 inch of the lower unit

"I just bought this motor and I noticed after that it's missing a fair peace of metal from the lower end. Enough that the prop is exposed. Is this bad for the performance or the motor for that matter?
Looks like maybe it was placed on the ground to hard and broke off, i'm not really sure how else that could have happened.
I can take a picture if I need to.

"You can run it no problem..just have to be careful of striking the prop on anything..especially when trailering. Any welding shop could fab and weld in a aluminum piece to make it look original again, if you decide to repair it."
