I am new to this forum and was hoping someone could help me with a question about an outboard motor I have just purchased?
I have checked the compression in my 1994 Honda BF-45hp. Cyl # 1 = 125 Cyl # 2 = 115 Cyl # 3 = 125. Can anyone tell me if the compression in each cylinder is ok or at a satisfactory level for this age and hp?
Any advice is welcome.

Cant tell you personally,but sombody on here will know.I will try to find out!!Buy you a manual on this motor,it will tell you.

Here is a chart from the repair manual. It stated that compression in PSI should be around 199-226. On the other hand I'm not sure how true this is but Iv'e been told that so long your compression between all cylinder are even + or - up to 5 Psi you should be good.

I am by no means a outboard mechanic so take this with a grain of salt and ask around.
 
Did you do compression check with cold engine?if so hook up water hose run engine to normal temp,then check it again.FYI not all compression guages read the same,try another guage also and see if there is a difference!!
 
I have been told that also about compression being even.I have an engine that reads 30 psi lower than what the manual says and it runs great.
