Hi, I was out fishing and when I turned the key to start it didn’t crank , no sound , nothing. I dropped the anchor and tried starting several more times but nothing . Battery is a year old. I tried a few more times before calling Tow boat US ,then it started. Made it back to my marina . I shut the boat it started right up . I did that a few times and it started then I unattached the kill switch and the engine died. I reconnected the switch but the engine did not start . I tried maybe ten more times then it started again. My question is aside from what is the problem is with the random not starting, while my engine was down in the water and the boat wouldn’t start , I was suprised that I could not tilt my engine up. Does the kill switch cut all power to engine like tilt as well.
Thanks

I would think it's more of a ground issue. Clean both cables where they attach to the battery and a small amount of grease

I would suggest check and or adjust your neutral switch in the engine.
The control has a neutral switch so if the shift lever is not in the neutral position the engine will not start.
On the engine side in the middle facing forward there is another neutral switch.
You can adjust the gear shift cable so as to have the neutral switch pressed when the gear is in neutral.
I know because I had the same problem and sometimes the neutral switch was pressed and sometimes not.
If the engine won’t start ,you can wiggle the control lever a bit forward and backwards and try cranking.
If that solves your problem then adjust the shift cable in the engine.
