BF 130 Prop Shaft Seal-which direction?

Question.

2000 BF 130 HP Prop Shaft Seal-which direction do seals face?

Does flat surface face in towards prop on both seals?
or do they oppose each other?

Also how much pressure is needed when pressing them in?

Troy

The seals oppose each other with flat surface back to back.
So the inner seal spring faces inward and the outer seal spring faces outward.
Apply grease and they will tap in with an installation tool(correct sized socket) easily.
Make sure they don't tilt when pressing them in.

Ok, how liberally should I grease the seals can there be to much grease?
Also I have a pipe that fits over he shaft how much pressure do I need to provide? Hand Tight, Light Hammer Tap? 5 LB Sledge?

Normally you would remove the gearcase, gearcase shift shaft, propshaft holder with propshaft. Then slide propshaft out of propshaft holder, then replace propshaft seals.
So I'm not sure why you would fit a pipe over the shaft, unless you are replacing the seals with the propshaft holder still attached to the gearcase?
If you are renewing the propshaft seals, I would suggest also renewing the vertical shaft seals which wear more.

Just apply a thin smear of grease to the seals and the housing before installation, and several light taps from a 12-16 oz hammer is all that is needed.
