Read the article if you are interested in the details, but the bottom line is, that by far, the best is grease is Calcium Sulfonate based, by far (in all applications, Transport, Marine, Ag, Drilling, Food)!

Thank you for that link to a good article, your Kendall link is dead.

I've been using CORROSION BLOCK Waterproof and it's better than the article on "Water Washout @ 1.5% at 175 F" and Wheel Bearing Life of 320 Hours. that's 10,000 miles at just over 30 mph average.

I don't have a trailer, but use it extensively for my davits. two 5500 Lb lifting cables and their machinery and it has been most helpful lubricating/protecting the pivot machinery that puts the boat out over the canal.

30 years ago, boat lifts were just being introduced and weren't perfected yet and I had a 7,600 Lb Sloop with a four foot keel to swing in.

Expensive stuff but worth it (nearly $20 for 14 ounce cartridge at WM) need to check Amazon ('Salt Away' was 33% more at WM). It's made in Canada.

It has those davits much more friendly to use for me....

Of course I also use it for my outboards (Yamaha 90 & Honda 9.9) wherever greasing is called for:cool:

I had just been going by running noises and ease of movement.

That CORROSION BLOCK was a quantum leap ahead from anything I had ever used before.
Wonder if it might be Aluminum-Complex, which would account for its high cost:
