Bendix engages but won't turn engine

Hi everyone. I have a 2005 Honda 4 stroke BF50, hasn't been run in about 4 years. I got it all ready to go, turned the key, the bendix on the starter engages, but does not turn engine at all. I started the engine using the pull rope. Took off on the first pull and sounds good, quiet and smooth. But, the starter is not working, other than the bendix. Battery might be weak, I charged it up, but it has sat for 4 years also. Could it be the battery? Any suggestions. I would appreciate any help.

If your battery sat for 4 years without charging, it has probably had it.
If you check the battery voltage, it is probably well under 12 volts.
Get a new battery.

Ditto...

When you put the new battery in...be sure to clean the battery cable connections and tighten the cables onto the battery wrench tight.

Thanks to both. I checked the voltage and it was 10 something. I bought a new battery, hooked it up, and the boat started like it was brand new. Thanks guys!
