Bellows replaced and now won't start - doesn't make sense.

I'm new to the forum and looking for help. My 2007 8.1GI-H, which ran perfect and smooth doesn't want to restart now. After a recent marina service where they changed the bellows and painted outdrive the boat was put back in the water to test the outdrive and it ran fine for 20 min.

Upon trying to restart the engine, it
sounds like is wants to turn over, but doesn't - tried multiple times over a few days.

I'm puzzled, batteries are good (3 fully charged), engine completely serviced in Jan and winterized, tank is full of gas, fuel filter changed with service, started fine 2 weeks ago with ears, started after recent outdrive service, etc....waiting for mechanic report, but open to ideas.

Thank you!

In addition to answer to post above, 3 fully charged batteries???? Only need (and only SHOULD have one connected) one. How old are the batteries?

If the batteries are not all of the same age and spent their whole service life connected together, they will take charges differently... When paralleled,, i.e. 3 hooked up, then the battery in the poorest condition will discharge the better ones, and since there is no alternator with a regulator in the circuit that connects the batteries together, there will be nothing to limit the current that flows between the batteries. If not damaged outright, the batteries will exhibit shortened service life. If one of the batteries is in poor shape ( won't take a full charge) it can discharge the good batteries to the point that they won't crank the engine... The low state battery(s) will appear as a continuous load (drain) on the good battery.

Please explain what you mean by; "it sounds like it wants to turn over, but doesn't" !
In other words..... does the starter motor appear to be weak, or is it not working at all, does the solenoid click but no armature movement, etc etc????

If you were to charge the Starting Battery, and if you were to leave it at rest for approx 6 hours, what voltage reading do you see???

Thank you!
