This is my first post and I am not only a "newbie" to this forum, but also not a boater. In fact, I pretty much hate the whole boating thing in general. It just seems like more trouble than it's worth. But I do it because the wife loves it!
So anyway, now that I've alienated most of you! Maybe someone can help me out.
We have a Mercury 175 Optimax that my wife ran all day the first time we put it in the water this year. She was out for probably 3 hours or so running all around at all different speeds without any problems. Later that same day we had another 2 couples and myself get on to go to dinner and it started beeping when we would try to drop the throttle and get on plane. We checked the oil which was low, but not out and filled it anyway. Checked all of the plugs and their connections, and pulled the cap off of the oil reservoir in the engine to be sure there wasn't some kind of back pressure from running low (this was by suggestion of a friend) So since none of that helped, all we could do was bring it back to the landing at idle speed.
I'm sure there are a million things that it could be, but I thought maybe someone else has experienced something similar? Also I should add that we were going to sell the boat on consignment, so the dealer did a full service and their checklist to get it ready for sale.
Thanks in advance!
