Bearing noise in the mid section

It seems that I need to buy this kit assembly.

Do I need to pull out the crankshaft for this??

If you think one bearing is gone on the crankshaft. Your best to replace them all. You said mid section was the noise. I would be pulling the lower unit off and inspect the upper driveshaft bearing. Listening to your video it's hard to hear what you are hearing. For yourself to listen what's going on inside the engine. Get yourself an old broom handle. Cut it about 2 foot long. Place one end on the engine where you think the noise is coming from and the other in your ear. Please be careful not to put the stick near the flywheel . Or you may take your ear out.. your best to remove the mid section cowlings for better diagnosis

So I removed the lower unit, cowling for better diagnosis. I gave it a quick run (not too long because no water was circulating) and the bearing noise is definitely coming from the lower bearing from the crankshaft.... Sounds like a hell of a job!

First thing. You shouldn't run with no water. Impeller will start to degrade .
Second if you think it's the bearing. You re going to have to remove the power head. And do a complete tear down. I'm sure that bearing is press fit onto the crankshaft. While it's apart. You might as well rebuild it.

I fired the engine without the lower unit which means the drive shaft was not connected to the crankshaft spline.

I think I am going to rebuild the head anyways as it seems that I need to tear down the power head

So thats the bottom of the powerhead. There are 3 bolts I can't seem to find this from the the diagrams ... what is it called?

Any thought?

I took my new 1998 60hp Bigfoot out of the box and installed it on my boat, same bearing noise. 28 years and 900 hours later, same bearing noise. Run it.. However I will be knocking on wood, just cause...
