I just bought a 1975 Bayliner Mesquito with a Force 35 OB. Have only had it a week and took it to a reliable mech. for checkout and tune. He said the fuel mixture was all out of whack (too rich) and corrected it. Replaced plugs and compression check indicated that one cyl. was about 20 lbs. low. He suspects a carboned-up ring and put something in to break it loose. Said it idled fine and ran good in the tank. So, I've been reading the posts and picked up on the impeller and fuel pump diaphram replacement. I will ask him about that tomorrow. Anything else that should be checked/replaced before I launch for the first time ? I haven't checked the ser# or model # to determine the year. Have to assume that it is 1975, same as the boat. Is this a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke ? Also, what is the proper pitch prop to run ? Any help would be appreciated. Tks, SteveT"
