Are an alternator and rectifer the only parts needed to charge my battery?The battery is about 12ft.from
the motor.What gauge wire would be best from the motor to the battery?

Yes. You would install 3V1061280M ALTERNATOR SET $53.68 and 3V2761600M RECTIFIER KIT F8A2-3/9.8A2-3 $88.47. The charge rate is 80 watts (about 6 amps), so 16 AWG would be heavy enough... but I would run 14-2 AWG, as it will be physically stronger, and you will find 5/16 and 3/8 ring terminals (for the battery connection) for that size wire more readily. Be sure to use marine grade wire, such as Pacer or Ancor brand, and heat-shrink the ends correctly.
