just bought a used 2000 evinrude 225 hp ficht motor for my bass boat. It had been sitting on a engine stand for about 2 yrs. the guy replaced it with a yamaha 225 and said this motor ran really good when he took it off his boat. i know this guy really well, and most of his family for yrs. so i have no reason to doubt his honesty. what im having problems with is both battery cables are gone, and i know that the ground cable bolts to the ground lug at the starter bracket, thats obvious, but where does the positive cable go to??? the solenoid? cant. there is no room on the stud. (i used this spot to tilt the engine up to get it on my boat.) i need to start this beast to check it out, and dont want to mickey mouse this. anybody know?? please help!! thanx, jim

There are two big terminals on the start solenoid one goes to the starter and the other goes to battery pos large wire. with all the other stuff pulling off that terminal similar to this. http://maxrules.com/graphics/omc/wiring/1988_89_200_225.jpg Is there a large wire that was just cut short to remove the motor. Disconnect all the wires and see where they go. They may have just cut the ground wire also, when replacing the wires use high quality cables with crimp ends that are double insulated there are some good companies that fab up special cables to spec.

then it does go to the solenoid? just dont seem like anymore room on that lug for another wire. but thanx for the pic link. it says so.
