Ballast resister

Hi, first of all I just love this site!It"s been such a great help........My question is I have a 1977 351W in my boat and and have a Ballast Resister that is bad due to exposure to the elements, can I just get a coil that has a internal one instead of buying another Ballast Resister ? Thanks all
 
You can, but you would lose the "hot start" feature a ballast system provides.
Using a 9V coil and hitting it with 12V during cranking makes a boat start a lot faster with points.
 
ok I think I will just replace the ballast resister then........thanks again Hystat.........I was just trying to go with the way that would be the best! Wow ya"ll are the best! people that have been thru it and I accept your advice....Chuck ............................where were all these people and their expertize before the internet came along and saved people like me money and headaches LOL
