Bad Trim Sensor guage

"Newbie on board, I am not sure what is wrong, the trim sensor or guage. I have a VP SX, the issue that I am having is when I lower the lower unit the guage indecates shows that the unit is going down. But the guage stops 3/4 of the way down. While the lower unit is still going down. Also when the lower unit is going up the guage does not start to move until the lower unit is about a 1/4 of the way up and then follows correctly. Could this be the trim sensor going bad? Or is there a why to adjust the trim sensor to read correctly on the guage? I assume that the trim sensor is on the lower unit, correct?"

Also look @ the wires that go

Also look @ the wires that go to the unit on the outdrive...they have a nasty habit of breaking with the drive going up/down so many times.
