"I ended up tripping my engine

"I ended up tripping my engine 20A fuse the other day when I crossed wires installing a new warning horn. I replaced the engine fuse near the starter solenoid 20A today and boat started fine when I jumped the battery w/ a booster pack

Let run for 5-10 minutes on flaps in driveway. Went back an hour later and starter engages, but not with enough power to hook up with flywheel and start engine. When I use the booster pack it starts fine again.

Does this signify I burned up the solenoid in the starter, or did somehow my battery go south? The battery is less than a year old and worked fine last week"

"The fact that the booster bat

"The fact that the booster battery causes the solenoid to engage proves the solenoid is okay.

sounds like the battery failed OR there is a loose connection OR a tight but dirty connection on the cables somewhere. Remove all starter related cables, including the battery terminals and the ground at the engine, clean and retighten."

"Joe, thanks I will do that fi

"Joe, thanks I will do that first thing in the AM. I did just clean all the connections and coat with CRC terminal protector, but will recheck all in the AM.

Any chance I could have screwed the battery when I crossed the wires while working on my warning horn? The trim tilt seems to work fine while engine is off and I do h ave power for accessories

The starter does take a large amount of power though to crank, right? Sorry for basic question like that"
