I recently aquired a 95' Wellcraft Excell 18' which is no longer made and after replacing the rotted floor I began to smell gas fumes, very strong. When I had the floor up the poly tank held fuel and the top appeared yellowed but OK. I didn't smell fumes at that point but the other day when I pulled the cover off to do routine cleaning fumes were so strong I wouldn't want to light a match around it.
I hate the idea of having to take the new floor back up as it was a pita to put down with a lot of custom fitting but the old tank would be the suspect culprit as the old floor had collapsed on it. As I stated, the boat is no longer made and a replacement tank would have to be custom made.
Any suggestions?
