I have a 1987 Johnson 110. At idle it will backfire about every 2 seconds. The motor seems to run well when I throttle it up. One cylinder also seems colder than the rest. The plugs all look good but a little black. The motor does not seem to want to run as well when there is a load on the prop. Compression an all cyliners is between 100-105. Any sugg?

"Check the ignition on all cylinders. Have a feeling 2 cylinders might fire at same time.
Mark flywheel 1-2-3-4 as each cyl is in TDC. Then take a timing light and check by moving the pick up from plug-lead to plug-lead.When You see #1, move the light around the fly=wheel. If You at the same time see #3, it means both cyl's are firing at the same time.
Even double-check that no of the spark-plug leads gets in contact with the rear latches of the cover."
