"I recently brought this boat

"I recently brought this boat downunder from Florida and am totally underwhelmed by the speed/performance I am getting out of it. It bears no resemblance to the boat test reports I have on file.

The props on her currently are bronze 18 x 22 pitch but my feeling is that when the OEM ones were changed for whatever reason they just went and got the cheapest ones of any size off the shelves. When new, Silverton delivered them with 18 x 23.

Can any of you make suggestions where in the US I can find a source of better props than what we have here in Australia.

Crusader in the manual say max rev is around 4400rpm but at WOT I'm getting nearly 5000 which is indicating, I think, that I'm seriously under-propped. Fuel economy is something to be alarmed over as you can guess ;-)

Any guidance you can give will be greatly appreciated."

Pull them and get a good prop

Pull them and get a good prop shop to repitch them. Worth it in the end.

Jeff

PS: I'd go to a 24 pitch since the motors are singing with the 22.

Look for PROSCAN shops they ha

Look for PROSCAN shops they have couple in western australia and a few in nw south wales

Pull

"Quick update guys....

Pulled the boat, removed props, took them to a well respected guy here in Bulimba Queensland and initial tests showed one prop was 22" pitch and the other 22.8" - all blades varying ;-)

So now they've been re-pitched to 24 and she is singing, rev's have dropped, fuel usage much improved and speed leaving us with a smile on the face.

At 4000rpm she is giving us 22-23knots.

Next project is to pick up fuel-flo system from the USA when we're there in October. Buying them from the local dealer in Australia requires a 2nd mortgage - he is loading up the price something fierce - almost twice the US$ equivalent..

Thanks for your advise folks, been much appreciated, there are more questions to ask but, as they say, they can wait until another day
