"I am currantly using a 13-1/4 X 17 aluminum prop, it has several small nicks along the blade edges and the blades are a little bent. I do have 2 new props (13 X 19 steel) and a (14 X 13 aluminum). would either of these work O.K. performance wise or would I be better off having my existing one rebuilt.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance."

The prop attaches to the motor

The prop attaches to the motor but " fits " the boat. You must have a tachometer on a big motor it will save you loonies. With the 13" you will overspeed the motor and the 19" might lug the motor.GET A TACHOMETER!

"Thanks for the info.
I do have a tachometer, when you say "lug" the motor are you talking about putting strain on the motor. I havn't tried either of the 2 new props yet, so I don't know how they will performe and effect the motor. I am also not sure of how to "read" props with all the different pitches, is the 19 pitched more than the 17 so it will push more water with every revolution."

In theory the 19" pitch wi

In theory the 19" pitch will travel 19" in one revolution. That is theory and there are factors involved. You should never prop the motor to exceed 5500 RPM full throttle and never below 4800RPM .There is lots of information on props ----just search the net.
