I wired a new ignition switch

I wired a new ignition switch how Joe advised. I replaced the solenoid. I cannot even get the starter to turn over. I am getting power to the white starter wire when i turn the key to the run position. I am sure that it is something simple that I am overlooking. The starter does drag some when it is jumped directly but I dont believe that it is enough drag to prevent even some sort of issue.

I assume you mean that you hav

I assume you mean that you have power to the white wire with the key in the start position. Underneath the flywheel there is a microswitch that defeats the starter circuit if the throttle is too far advanced. If this switch is not passing current the starter will not work.
