"Hoping to get some help on this problem. Engine was running fine at around 4500 RPM and then quit down to idle and lost all throttle. The engine will start and go in to neutral, forward or reverse but has no throttle. I have no experience with outboard motors but could this be a cable related issue.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated"

"Open up the cowling "the covering on the engine" and make sure you can see the cables and try and shift the cables from the helm. If you see the cables move at the engine, its not your cables."
