"I am in the middle of just this situation on a 70 HP 1992 Evinrude. My VRO wnet out and the cost to rebuild/replace is not in my budget and I already carry my gas so I thought why not just a fuel pump. At this point I am having some difficulty finding a fuel pump for a 70 HP-- I tried a 50 ( I know don't say it the tech I talked to before I ordered it said " it should work just fine"-- key word should) but at higher RPM my boat would surge-- my carbs where running out of gas, so I need a bigger pump. I think it comes down to convience vs cost and how much is a oil injector worth."
