Autolite starter/generator question

I have a 60s era Palmer engine with an Autolite Starter/Generator, model GJR 6002A6P. It is a 3 post starter/genertator with a Battery, Armature and field post. I am looking for a voltage reguator that will match up to this unit, whiich is a 12volt. The autolite number for this regulator was a VB04201A

Can anyone advise were I can locate a regulator, or have a suggestion as to what can be used in its place.

I would go looking for a local alternator rebuild shop and, seriously, with a few grey haired individuals behind the counter. they may not have it on the shelf but may be able to order an equivalent or get you something that will work.

You can try NAPA. If you have the old regulator take it with and see if they can match up connections. Biggest challenge will be finding one with dimensions that will fit your mounting location.

Did that and a cople of other autoparts buys to boot. No luck. Seems as factory new replacment crossover is not available.

I think you may want a Prestolite regulator. I don't think that the Delco regulator will work as the charging activation works slightly different between a Delco and an Autolite. Jerrie

jzaraschi,

Does it look like this?. Click on the image below:

18-5710

Both were use for the Palmer P60 / M60. I think from your description it is the 18-5726 show at the top.

FYI, we sell a manual for the P60 if you need it.
