"Ok guys i have a aq260 volvo penta eng(350)
that i just had rebuilt (water in #2 cylinder) and i am installing all new outfitting. one of which will be a new intake , i have had so many issues where i have used either the wrong type part or used automotive when i should not have, but today.... i need to know if there is anything special about my intake on this volvo aq260 , can i just order stock intake from chevy.. or is there a special marine application intake??? existing one has chevy stamp but not sure its the orignal intake.my existing one gets extremly hot port/stbd side (center ports) right under carb (why) firering order ???
also my existing intake has the temp sensor on the fwd stbd side, but when i removed the engine i also have an unused sensor on stbd side of block below exhaust hdrs, which is the best place to get the most accurate readings. thanks byron hunt south mississippi"

"Hi, the center ports under th

"Hi, the center ports under the carb in your intake manifold are hot because there is a passage through which there is exhaust gas circulating. This is to help to warm up the gas so that it does not form droplets.

Firing order: 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2.

The standard place for the coolant temperature sensor is the intake manifold, forward starboard. This is where I have mine.

Hope this helps."

"thanks ,as far as the intake

"thanks ,as far as the intake itself should i replace the old intake with the same chevy intake that was on it part no. 14057050 or should i go to a elderbrock performer, not sure if there is a special marine intake i am supposed to be using
also do i need to install the restrictor plates in the centre holes in the intake (i never even knew they were supposed to be there untill i was reading some of the other messages) existing one did not have these plates installed when i bought the boat
one more thing alum. intake i hear that i am not to use alum intake on marine eng is that a legit statement???.
thank you for all the info"

alum. will work with closed co

alum. will work with closed cooling. raw water- not good. salt water- no way. better to stay with iron in most cases.

In the GM performance parts ca

In the GM performance parts catolog there are cast iron intake manifolds for marine and racing that are a very nice high rise dual plane. It is the exact same one you would get from mercruiser or volvo (they order these part numbers from chevy) at half the price.

"Some marine intakes for raw water cooling have bronze plated surfaces where water touches. If this is a FWC application, you're all set. No difference from an automotive deal.
