AQ250 Roller Bearing Removal?

Hi All, any help would be greatly appreciated. Upon removing my split Bellows ( that I just purchased last year from JSP on ebay) I notice oil leaking.
I took the trans to a man I trust who has worked on it before(last year he replaced the bearings on the output shaft)to replace the oil seal.
In taking it apart he noticed that the innermost
bearing in the bearing box is damaged. Three questions: 1) How does he remove the bearing(s). The manual shows a special tool.
2) should I replace both While I'm at it and 3) are these part numbers correct. VP part 3850852 crossed ref to Timken 30207. and VP part 183247 crossed to 31307.
I'm appreciative for any and all help. Thanks Rudy63

Please make certain that the person doing this work for you has vast Hypoid Gear experience and has done this very task before!!!!!

In taking it apart he noticed that the innermost
bearing in the bearing box is damaged.
There are two tapered roller bearing in the "main drive gear"....... an industry standard 30207 and an industry standard 31307.
In order to replace the 31307, the 30207 will be removed....... I would replace both of these.

Three questions:

1) How does he remove the bearing(s). The manual shows a special tool.
This question leads to being somewhat skeptical regarding your friend having done this before. This is a critical setup that he will be performing.

No special tool is required.
The roller cage will be cut and removed.
The shop doing the "press work" will have a fixture that will allow the removal of the inner race from the gear shaft.
They will also have something of the correct ID as to install the new 31307.

2) should I replace both While I'm at it
Absolutely.
The OEM work shop manual gives us two (2) rolling torque values........ one for new bearings, and one for "run-in" bearings (used).
There is no spec for only one new bearing.

Much may have changed with the new bearings having been installed. This requires a completely new set-up procedure.

and 3) are these part numbers correct. VP part 3850852 crossed ref to Timken 30207. and VP part 183247 crossed to 31307.
See above.

I'm appreciative for any and all help. Thanks Rudy63

Rudy, one more thing.......

I have removed many of these inner bearing races over the years. Occasionally the bench press fixture will not fully or sufficiently grab the inner race lip, and will slip off.
The trick is to weld a small bead at two locations on the lip of the race (180* from each other).
This must be very small without much heat saturation (steel shrinks at the welded area).
The fixture will now grab and will not slip off.
