"I put my flushing kit on and

"I put my flushing kit on and turned on the water and there is water coming out a hole in the bottom front of the lower unit. I can look up in the hole and see the regular water inlets. I have been doing this for 20 yrs and this is the first time this has happened. It is about a 1/2 hole. Should there be a plug in the hole? I figured it was a drain hole but it is not threaded for a plug. thanks,"

That hole has been there since day one. It is a low point drain hole.
We plug then with a rubber plug when using the garden hose and muffs!
A whittled down tree branch works well too.
But you do need to plug this if using the muffs."

Thanks for the info. I wonder what mine has been plugged with for the last 20yrs that just came out. It looks like it would pick up sand here in the Mississippi river.
