While in process of getting boat ready for fishing with son, new alternator, rebuilt carb, oil change working on bellows swap I fired up the boat and no water came out of exhaust, nope, nada, zilch. Checked impeller, fine, muffs on and over intakes. started pulling hoses, water flows evenly from hoses to exhaust manifolds. Pulled risers and completely plugged with rust and muck, rubber exhaust hoses from risers to y pipe blistered. Is there any one out there who makes a direct replacement riser or am I stuck with complete manifold swap with risers from aftermarket sources? Boat hasn't been ran in water for 3 years.

The AQ series 95mm exhaust system does not offer itself to risers that I am aware. I think you mean elbows.

If they have not cracked due to freeze damage, they may be salvageable.
Clear the rust scale and give them a meiotic acid treatment. Be sure to neutralize the acid afterwards.

As for the 95mm rubber couplers, try to find this by the foot, and increase the length of each by several inches.
Make sure that the band clamps at the elbows do not clamp over the scalloped areas at the outlets.
The OEM couplers are always too short, and one of these two clamps often compresses the couplers into the scalloped areas, and this will restrict sea water flow, eventually causing over-heating issues.

Replace your water neck fitting and special beaded gasket also.

Thanks for the reply. Upon closer inspection I found a few small cracks in the elbows, need to replace them. Manifold look good, no cracks not much corrosion. Does anybody make a direct bolt on replacement elbow? Also where can I purchase the rubber exhaust hose and what diameter? Was also wondering if the washers under the bolt heads holding elbow are a spring wave washer or can I use a standard stainless washer

Back to you......................

The AQ series 95mm exhaust system has been standardized. IOW, an Osco or Barr elbow will bolt onto a Volvo Penta manifold, and/or visa-versa.

We're talking about this system...... not any other style.

This is 95mm ID soft wall Marine exhaust hose. It's hard to find.
Make your couplers several inches longer than what the OEM were. There's a good reason for this.

A standard 5/16" SAE washer will do just fine. (SAE... not a regular flat washer)

Just wanted to say thank you Rick, you have been very helpful. Hopefully I got the correct parts on order and can get this boat finished. Did find complete factory manual on line @boatinfo, lots of great information.
