AQ225D thermostat

When i replaced my thermostat i received one for 140deg.
I have sense read that for fresh water use only you want a 160/180deg style as you do not need to worry about salt and mineralization.
For the life of me i can't remember why they said a hotter thermostat was better so im asking

Is a hotter thermostat better for fresh water only use?

Yes, for both raw water systems when in river/lake water, and for Closed Cooling systems!

Well. I dont mind to much seeing how your gonna toss in a free outdrive rebuild(i'll buy all the bearings though)
But i need to warren ya. After all the stuff i have replaced on this boat your going to need to stay cheap as there is not much room left on it!
