Is just purchased a Fjord 21 HT with a Volvo Penta AQ170. The boat and engine where in a very good condition and the motor runs beautiful. The first time I made a little trip with the boat everything was perfect, the motor stayed very cool!
Now I made a second trip and I had to go trough a very shallow canal when the motor power felt different suddenly after some time. I turned off the motor and checked my prop, and there was a garbage bag and a t shirt wrapped around the prop. I removed it and went back to my console and then spotted a motor temperature which was in the red area!
After testing the next day when the engine was cooled down I noticed the temperature increases pretty rapidly on idle so my guess is it doesn't get any cooling whats so ever.
If I am right there is no water pump/impeller in the sterndrive itself on this engine, but it is mounted on the engine block itself (Took me some time to figure out). Now I checked if the water pump was still functioning by disconnecting the intake (Which goes to the sterndrive) and connected a tube on it which I then holded in a bucket of water. No suction at all...
I then checked the pump house and impeller and couldn't find and problems!
The impeller was in a good condition so I really didn't know where to look further
I have only little knowledge of engines so I hope you guys could help me out
