"Hi all,
I haven't used my AQ170 in a while and did so last week end.
I noticed the engine would hesitate on hard acceleration so I removed the air silencer and noticed that when the accelerator is pumped, the pump jets on all 3 solex 44PAI carbs, hardly pump any fuel at all.

I removed the pump diaphragm of one carb and found that even with the main float bowl full of gas, there is no fuel at all in the pump section.
Is this normal ?

We have gumming issues with the fuel we use so has some little ball valve got stuck or something ?

In the attached photo, the float bowl is full of gas but as you can see no fuel is dripping into the pump area

"Chanaka, I just rebuilt two of those carbs on my 130D due to the acceleration issues you mentioned. I don't remember where the passage way is located but if you look closely, you'll find it. It sounds like the passage is gummed up as you guessed. It's time to soak the carb body and components in carb cleaber as part of the needed rebuild. After soaking and cleaning, I'd also recommend a good second cleaning in warm soapy water and then blowing out all passageways with compressed air.

It's not complicated, just need to follow the directions supplied with the carb kit and in the manual. A word of caution concerning the accelerator pump spring placement: the picture in the manual is correct - the drawing is not.

I cheated a little bit and did one carb at a time so I had the other as a reference.

Be sure to check the tightness of ALL of the jets and screws.

Good luck - let us know how it turns out. "

"Thanks for that.

So am I correct in assuming that with the float bowl full of fuel, the pump section should also fill with fuel ?"
