Does the valve timing have a g

Does the valve timing have a great effect on the power/pereformance if the distributor is moved to compensate for being a tooth out.any comments please

Well thats interesting because

Well thats interesting because when I replaced my head I must of mised a tooth when putting the timing belt back on.It would not start so i compensated for this by taking that distributor out and repositioning the rotor anf taking it back one gear.It started up straight away and ran without any differance.that's why the question.Ive been running this for about 7/8 months now and had (to my recollection)any dirrerance.maybe i got used to the way it performed but hear of people getting 35mph and i could not achieve this.thats why I suspected this.Another machanic told me that if the valve timing and the electrical timing were different. You could have the right electronoc tunning but if the valve timimg is not correct you would get bogging down power on excellation and your top speed would suffer.Any comments on this.

"Mechanical and electronic timing ARE different! If they are off, it can cause the engine to "bog"."
