AQ145a, Wont start but turns over.......

Okay, here is my problem:
my boat wont start but it turns over and there's spark going to all the plugs. When i look under the distributor cap, one of the contacts doesn't show signs of arching. I believe its the back cylinder. If i converted to the electric ignition, would this fix my problem? Also, that rear spark plug hole is beginning to strip, what's the easiest way to fix it?

i have a 1981 Bayliner Mutiny 1700 with a AQ145a engine and a 280 outdrive

Do a compression test before you do anything else. You sure the fuel is getting to the carb?Spark/compression/fuel.It should be running.
Check for cracked cap.Check for continuity through the cap and it electrodes.J

I agree with Jerry, check to see if its getting fuel. My fuel pump went recently and my engine would turn over and had spark, but wouldn't start because it wasn't getting any gas.
