AQ145A solex carb problem with high revs

Hi - AQ145A volvo with Twin Solex PA44 carbs
I have had problems starting after winter lay up. Turned out to be petrol supply. One carb was not delivering petrol via the accellerator pump so carried out stripdown, clean and rebuild using aftermarket kit. Carb now delivers petrol and boat starts but runs at high revs, approx 2000+rpm. I am unable to adjust reves down to normal idle.
Any ideal where i may have gone wrong please?

First the most obvious thing... with the throttle cable (and link to carb #2 disconnected) and the idle set screw backed away and choke held open, look in the carb throat(s) and see that the throttle plate(s) on both carbs close all the way... Reconnect the intercarb link and check for proper operation. As I recall, a spring on the inter carb link holds one carb throttle plate closed all the way while the idle screw opens the other carb plate for idle operation. . Need to do this while cable to helm disconnected.
Also...

I had this problem in a different carb. There was a hard tan deposit about as hard as plaster in one of my jets (venturi) that prevented me from running below 1300rpms. This happened rather abruptly ( engine ran fine @ idle and low speeds and then after 5 min of operation, would not). Tried many different chemicals and blowing. In the final analysis, needed a sharp metal object (straightened fish hook) to clear the blockage.

Hi,For all those interested in this thread i can now say sandkicker was spot on and the thottle linkage turned out to be the problem as it was holding the flap in the throttle body slightly open causing the high revs. Now loosened off and adjusted. Now just waiting to put the boat in the water for final carb tune up.
Thank you Sandkicker.
