"I have a pair of AQ145A's and one of them has a midrange hesitation thats intermitnet. On both engines i have converted to the pertronix ingnition system with new coils also. I noticed it around 3800 rpm to 4200 rpm that the hesitation occurs, but anything above 4200 it seems to be just fine. With the timing light on it it acts like its dropping timing every time it "hiccups", i noticed this while retiming it after the ignition kit install. The cap and rotor look good and seem fairly new, could this be a mechanical advance problem? Any suggestions? I still need to check the plugs, and the wires are new."

"You have answered your own question. Check the centrifugal weights in the distributor and make sure they are free; also check that the springs are in good condition.

Make sure the spark plugs are correctly gapped. If in doubt about their condition, replace them and you won't have to worry about them for the next few years."

"Ill check the distributor, and change the plugs in both engines. From the way the timing was acting under acceleration it seemed somthing was hanging up! Thanks!!"
